João Gabriel Rocha
João Gabriel Rocha started training Jiu-Jitsu when he was only 3 years old. He got his first gold medal a year later. He kept training and achieved some goals that few athletes did, he was Brazilian National Champion in all belt colors, including 2 times as a black belt.
Some of his achivements:
-
4 times World Champion
-
2 times ADCC Vice-Champion
-
20 times Brazilian National Champion
-
4 times Pan-American Champion
-
World Pro Champion
-
ACB Champion
-
King of the Mats Champion
In 2014 he was diagnosed with cancer right after getting his black belt. That fact made him stop his career for almost a year. After a surgery and some months of chemotherapy he was back.
Today he is considered cancer free and managed to get his career back on track, but he feels like he needs to help other people that suffer with the same problem. Recently he had the honor to be invited to be an Ambassador of ARD Foundation (https://ardfound.org/) an organization that helps to raise funds and foster basic and translational research to identify genetic causes of specific cancer.
Now JG Rocha is focused on his first gym and some new projects, that he will share pretty soon.
